Garmin Tread 2 puts off-road navigation, detailed terrain and a bright, glove-friendly 6-inch screen in a package built for powersport vehicles. Whether the garage holds a side-by-side, ATV, dirt bike or a rig that sees real dirt, it brings your routes and trail information together in a dedicated cockpit display.

Read the trail and the terrain

The 1280 × 720 touchscreen works with gloved hands and in either orientation. An upgraded processor delivers quicker map drawing and route calculations. IP6X dust protection, an IPX7 water rating and a MIL-STD-810 drop rating suit rugged outdoor use.

Turn-by-turn guidance covers supported unpaved roads and trails using OpenStreetMap, U.S. Forest Service Motor Vehicle Use Maps, and Adventure Roads and Trails content. Preloaded topographic mapping and high-definition 3D terrain help explain the ground around you. Public land boundaries and private parcel information for parcels larger than 4 acres help you check where a route goes.

Download high-resolution satellite imagery over Wi-Fi without an imagery subscription. Optional Outdoor Maps+ adds premium content such as slope angle, slope aspect, avalanche risk reports and USGS quad sheets. Selected northern U.S. areas and Canadian provinces also receive snowmobile trail information, with fuel, warming shelter and restaurant locations. Plan the day from the garage to camp

Use the Tread app to sync waypoints, tracks, routes and collections. Send GPX files from your phone or other sources and share routes with riding partners. Track recording, navigate-a-track guidance, point-to-point navigation, round-trip routing, custom map support and Garmin Adventurous Routing provide several ways to explore.

Built-in altimeter, barometer, compass and pitch/roll gauges add terrain awareness. The Ultimate Public Campgrounds directory covers more than 46,000 U.S. locations. Back on pavement, use spoken directions, lane guidance, Garmin Real Directions landmark cues, TripAdvisor ratings, speed information and driver alerts.

Pair a compatible smartphone for live weather, storm alerts, animated radar, traffic and notifications through Tread. Control compatible phone music on the navigator and listen through a Bluetooth helmet or headset. Garmin Messenger text functions require both parties to have the Messenger app installed on their paired smartphones.

Build around your vehicle

The included tube mount kit accommodates powersport mounting. Garmin specifies roll tubes from 1.5 to 2.375 inches and a smaller tube mount for handlebars up to 1 inch. A power cable and USB cable are included. Internal storage is 64 GB, with support for a separately purchased microSD card up to 256 GB.

Optional accessories include the wired Handlebar Controller, Group Ride Radio, Garmin PowerSwitch digital switch box and BC 50 backup camera. Group Ride Mobile uses the Tread smartphone setup; off-grid location and voice functions require suitable radio equipment. PowerSwitch can control supported 12-volt accessories but is not intended for motors that reverse polarity.

Compatible Garmin dog trackers can place dog locations on the map. Pairing a compatible inReach communicator adds supported satellite messaging, SOS and weather functions; communicator hardware and an active satellite subscription are separate purchases. Before you install or use it

• Road and trail data can be incomplete. Obey actual signs, access restrictions and conditions; Garmin describes OpenStreetMap routing as supplementary guidance.
• Some jurisdictions restrict satellite communication equipment. Confirm local rules before using an optional inReach communicator.
• Battery life is up to 7 hours, or up to 5 hours at maximum backlight. Plan vehicle power for longer outings. Premium maps, satellite service and optional hardware have additional costs.
