Keep the power lead out of the way

Rather than leaving the camera powered only from a switched accessory socket, a properly installed parking cable connects it to the vehicle’s constant-power, switched-power and ground circuits. The camera’s parked-monitoring functions and settings determine what is recorded.

Understand what power enables

A hardwire installation supplies power; it does not add camera features, Wi-Fi, LTE or a cloud subscription. Live View, Parking Guard alerts and online video functions retain the supported camera’s network, smartphone, settings and paid-service requirements. For Catalyst 2, this cable provides power; the motorsports device remains intended for appropriate circuit use.

Installation requirements

Garmin strongly recommends an experienced installer with electrical-system knowledge. The camera manual shows BATT to constant battery power, ACC to switched accessory power and GND to chassis ground. Incorrect wiring can damage the vehicle or battery and cause injury. Use the official instructions for the device and the vehicle; this product description is not a substitute for an installation procedure.
