Coaching that follows the way you drive

On-track audio cues adapt to your performance and cover speed, braking and other opportunities. Pair suitable Bluetooth audio equipment so the guidance reaches you in the car. A compatible helmet or headset is a separate purchase; the device also works with a compatible vehicle stereo.

At a glance, the display shows last lap, best lap, adaptive delta, lap count and total session time. The delta uses a red-to-green gradient to show whether you are behind or ahead. The preloaded track database covers road courses around the world, and you can create custom tracks and configurations.

Refined True Track Positioning combines 25 Hz multi-GNSS positioning with accelerometers, gyroscopes and image processing to generate your line around the circuit. GPS, Galileo and BeiDou are supported. The system supports multiple drivers and cars, with stored on-track performance history to keep the right sessions together.

Turn a fast lap into repeatable progress

True Optimal Lap puts together a video of your best achievable time using lines you drove and can repeat. That gives you a useful target to study before going back out. Catalyst 2 automatically interprets the session and highlights the three biggest opportunities, then adapts its suggestions as your performance changes.

Use the Garmin Catalyst app on a compatible tablet or smartphone for detailed review. Compare the optimal lap with intelligent average-lap data, inspect braking, cornering, speed, apex and delta time, and study segment information for your racing line, speed and acceleration or deceleration. Session comparisons and driving performance scores help you evaluate what changed between runs.

Organize sessions by track, date or the order that works for you. Animated graphs add another way to examine the data when an internet connection is available; Wi-Fi is recommended. The app also supports friend comparisons and leaderboards for lap times and drag times.

Capture the session and share the useful parts

The integrated camera records 1440p HD video through a 140-degree diagonal view at up to 30 frames per second. Garmin Clarity HDR optics help preserve useful detail as lighting changes. Fit or remove the included polarized lens cover to reduce windshield glare.

Review high-definition video with overlays for the track map, speed, delta time and a G-G traction-circle diagram. Videos can include audio coaching, and you can export clips or share them to social media through the Garmin Catalyst app. Sharing needs an internet connection; Wi-Fi is recommended.

A Class 10 32 GB microSD card is preinstalled. Compatible microSD expansion is supported up to 512 GB. Wi-Fi connectivity handles software and track-database updates.

Road-course and drag-strip tools

Alongside road-course lap timing and coaching, the drag-racing timer records time and distance milestones such as 0–60 mph, 1/8-mile and 1/4-mile results. Review performance and comparisons through the Garmin Catalyst app. Keep all use within a suitable recreational circuit environment.

Understand the app and Vault requirements

• Detailed review and export: require the Garmin Catalyst app on a compatible tablet or smartphone. Garmin lists a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone as part of the connected setup.
• Connected graphs and sharing: need an internet connection where specified; Wi-Fi is recommended.
• Vault videos: an optional paid Vault subscription automatically saves optimal- and best-lap videos from every session for access in the app.
• Leaderboard and friend videos: viewing those associated videos requires a Vault subscription and the required internet connection. Check Garmin's current plan terms before subscribing.

A compact setup for the track car

Use the 3-inch capacitive touchscreen to align the camera and adjust settings. The package includes a low-profile magnetic mount using an 11 mm ball and an adapter for an action-camera mount. Alternate compatible mounts can be used when your vehicle or circuit calls for a different arrangement.

The supplied 4-meter vehicle power cable and dual-port vehicle adapter provide the normal in-car power setup. A 1.5-meter power/data cable is also included. Power input is USB-C; the rechargeable lithium-ion battery is rated for up to 45 minutes, with a published charging time of 2.5 hours. Plan vehicle power for longer sessions, secure the installation and follow the device instructions and circuit rules.

Add in-car flagging at supported tracks

At select tracks using MYLAPS race-control technology, Catalyst 2 can display live personal and track flag information when connected to a MYLAPS X2 RaceLink Club through the dedicated in-car flagging Y-cable. The RaceLink Club and Y-cable are sold separately from this standalone Catalyst 2.

RaceLink Club is not a timing transponder and works only with the MYLAPS X2 Race Control system. Confirm support and compliance with your track or series organizer before buying the flagging hardware. The optional tetherable cage is also a separate item.

Garmin Catalyst 2 is intended only for recreational use in a circuit environment. Never use it on public roads. Unsafe use can cause a crash, property damage, serious injury or death. The driver is responsible for safe and prudent operation.

This is standalone Garmin part 010-03924-00. The optional in-car flagging package is a separate configuration; MYLAPS hardware, the flagging Y-cable, cage mount, Bluetooth audio equipment, compatible phone or tablet and Vault service are not included in this package.
