A dash camera cannot keep watch after the ignition is off if its power disappears with the key. Garmin’s Constant Power Cable connects to a compatible vehicle’s OBD-II port and supplies power to as many as two compatible Garmin dash cameras. Choose how long it stays powered after you park, use the camera’s own USB power lead, and build the parked-monitoring setup your car needs.

Power that fits the way you park

  • OBD-II power connection for compatible passenger vehicles
  • Two USB outputs for up to two supported Garmin dash cameras
  • Selectable 10-minute, 24-hour or always-on operation
  • Low-voltage shutoff to help protect the vehicle battery

Choose the monitoring window

The physical switch selects how long power remains available after you leave the vehicle. Choose 10 minutes for a short period, 24 hours for longer parked use, or the always-on setting when continuous power is wanted. Motion or restarting the vehicle can reactivate the supply. Actual monitoring time also depends on camera settings and available vehicle power.

Build a two-camera setup

Connect the USB power lead supplied with each compatible camera to one of the adapter’s two USB ports. This OBD-II adapter supports older and current Garmin dash-camera models when used with the correct camera power cable; it does not change the connector on the camera itself.

Low-battery protection and status

The adapter stops supplying power when vehicle voltage falls below its protection threshold. A red status light indicates power is being supplied; flashing red indicates the timer has expired. An unlit status light can indicate input below 12 V. Low-voltage protection does not guarantee unlimited parking time or a particular battery reserve.

Check that your vehicle has a suitable OBD-II connector and compatible 12–16 V electrical supply. This cable is not compatible with a commercial J1939 connector or a 24 V vehicle system. Secure the adapter and wiring clear of pedals, driver’s feet and operating controls. Follow the vehicle’s instructions and Garmin’s installation guidance; disconnect it and contact Garmin if it affects engine performance.

This accessory supplies power. Parking Guard, Live View, cloud video and remote alerts still depend on the camera model, its settings, required network connection and the applicable paid Vault or LTE service. Cameras, smartphones and subscriptions are separate purchases.
