When the mirrors are busy and the session is moving quickly, another source of rearward awareness can help. Garmin Catalyst R1 Racing Radar uses a compact rear sensor and heads-up indicator lights to alert you to approaching vehicles and supported blind-spot situations on the racetrack. This is the track-car radar system with its own wired installation and included mounting hardware.
Know when a car is closing
Garmin specifies approaching-vehicle detection up to 197 feet (60 meters) across a 170-degree horizontal angle. Moving-vehicle heads-up alerts cover approaching traffic and vehicles in supported blind-spot positions.
The operational speed range is 15–177 mph, with a stated maximum of 285 km/h. Detection applies to approaching vehicles traveling 0–43 mph (0–70 km/h) faster relative to your current speed. These are operating limits, not a promise to detect every vehicle in every situation.
Indicator lights place alerts in view, and an ambient-light sensor automatically adjusts brightness. A status indicator and power/mode button are built in. Automatic shutdown occurs after the system has been parked for 10 minutes.
Fit it to the track-car layout
The sensor measures 78.75 × 26.95 × 30.00 mm; the light module measures 42.56 × 17.31 × 14.00 mm. Garmin lists the sensor with cable, without mounts, at 348.7 g and the light assembly with cable, without mounts, at 97.4 g.
A versatile panel-mount arrangement, surface plate bracket with screws, adhesive mounts and zip ties are included. The indicator lights use a 10-foot (3-meter) cable. A bare-wire power cable is included, and wired 12-volt installation is required.
The system carries an IP67 dust/water rating and supports Bluetooth for a smartphone app. This is Catalyst R1 Racing Radar, SKU 010-04735-00. It is separate from zūmo R1 motorcycle radar and from a Catalyst driving performance optimizer.

Before you install or use it
- Bad weather and wet tracks can interfere with radar operation. Continue checking mirrors and surroundings, especially in those conditions.
- Alerts support awareness; the driver remains responsible for judging traffic, overtakes and safe vehicle placement. Confirm installation and power routing for the vehicle.
