914Rubber Ignition Points for Porsche 914 (1970-76)
PMB Performance has been the trusted name for Porsche 914 enthusiasts for two decades, partnering with 914Rubber to sell more of their SKUs than any other retailer. Our deep dive into 914 systems ensures you get parts that keep your classic firing on all cylinders. The 914Rubber Ignition Points (Part No. 055905225B) are a precision replacement for Porsche 914 models (1970-76), specifically designed for the Bosch distributors used in later years (1975-76, 1.8L and 2.0L engines).
These Beru ignition points are crafted from high-quality tungsten contacts, offering reliable spark timing compared to worn OEM units that can cause misfires or no-start conditions. Rated for 12V systems, they handle the distributor’s 4-6A current draw without pitting or arcing, extending service life under the 914’s high-rpm demands. The phenolic base resists heat (up to 200°F in the engine bay) and ensures consistent breaker arm alignment for precise dwell angles—typically 44-50° for 914s. One set is required per car, fitting the 055 distributor series (check your model, as 1970-74 1.7L/1.8L may use different points).
Installation demands care. Set the point gap to 0.016” (0.4mm) using a feeler gauge, and verify dwell with a meter to avoid lean/rich conditions. Lubricate the distributor cam lightly with Bosch Ft1v4 grease to reduce wear. Inspect the condenser (Part No. 021905295A) during replacement, as a failing one can burn points prematurely.
