Polished calipers accompany GT-slotted rotors in this new-style Big Ford rear conversion. The internal parking-brake and retainer assemblies are designed around the documented 2.36-inch-offset housing rather than a model-name-only application. From its base in Camarillo, California, Wilwood Engineering designs and manufactures disc brake systems for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. Founded by Bill Wood in 1977, the company also produces the individual calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines used in these installations. Selection should account for how each component works within the complete brake system.

Fitment & Compatibility

For the polished GT configuration, begin with the DS528 new-style housing-end drawing and a measured 2.36-inch axle offset. The parking backing plates and bearing retainers are supplied for that arrangement. A correctly chamfered flange no larger than 6.61 inches must clear the hat, whose 3.06-inch center can use the supplied 2.80-inch adapter. Hydraulic hoses and parking cables are separate. Confirm these physical requirements on the vehicle; the generic Town Car listing does not verify its factory axle.

Adjust and test the mechanical parking brake as directed. Cable routing, tension and shoe adjustment affect its holding ability; do not rely on an untested parking brake alone to secure the vehicle on a slope.
