Wilwood Rear 2.36-Offset Old Big Ford Brake Kit, Red Superlites with 12.88-Inch GT Rotors & Internal Parking Brake

Red Superlite calipers are combined with GT-slotted rotors and internal parking-brake backing plates in this old-style Big Ford kit. The specified 2.36-inch axle offset sets rotor alignment, while the hat register must match the axle or its supplied adapter. From its base in Camarillo, California, Wilwood Engineering designs and manufactures disc brake systems for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. Founded by Bill Wood in 1977, the company also produces the individual calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines used in these installations. Selection should account for how each component works within the complete brake system.

Fitment & Compatibility

A slotted rotor and red caliper do not change the old-style Big Ford geometry: this kit requires 2.36-inch offset. Compare the bearing-retainer stack and housing-end mounting holes with DS527. The original model entry is only a starting point for a converted rear axle. Verify the 6.61-inch flange/chamfer clearance and center the hat at 3.06 inches, or 2.80 inches using the included adapter. Parking backing plates are supplied; the hydraulic hoses and cable operating connections are selected separately.

Adjust and test the mechanical parking brake as directed. Cable routing, tension and shoe adjustment affect its holding ability; do not rely on an untested parking brake alone to secure the vehicle on a slope.
