Wilwood Front Drilled/Slotted Brake & Hub Conversion Kit — Ford Drum-Brake Spindles (1937–1948), Polished Dynalite, 12.19-Inch Rotors

Polished Dynalite calipers are matched with the 12.19-inch drilled/slotted rotor pair in this Ford drum-spindle conversion. The bright caliper finish changes the appearance of the supplied brake assembly without changing the spindle and hub requirements. Based in Camarillo, California, Wilwood Engineering has designed and manufactured disc brake systems and components since Bill Wood founded the company in 1977. Its work spans motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications, with a product range covering master cylinders, calipers, brake rotors, valves, fittings and brake lines. These parts must be chosen for the requirements of the entire brake system.

Fitment & Compatibility

Intended for the early Ford drum-brake spindle used by the qualified 1937–1948 passenger-car, sedan-delivery and pickup applications below. The application list includes Deluxe, Standard, Super Deluxe and the individual numbered Ford models. Check the actual spindle and bearing dimensions before treating a passenger-car or truck listing as a match.

Match the bracket and hub installation to DS481. The original rubber hoses do not connect directly to the Wilwood calipers; the listed 220-8307 flexline package is separate and must be checked for length and routing.

The wheel contact surface must seat fully on the hub. If it overhangs the hub face, Wilwood requires the separate 6.60-inch-diameter x 0.20-inch steel spacer 300-11961. For stamped-steel wheels that do not overhang, Wilwood recommends the 6.15-inch x 0.09-inch hub shield 300-10716. Inspect contact surfaces and follow the wheel maker’s tightening requirements.

2. Universal Flexline kits available: 220-7056 (14"), 220-7699 (16") or 220-8307 (18"). Choose correct length for your application.
3. Master Cylinder may require modification to existing pushrod assembly to install.
4. This front brake kit contains no parking-brake mechanism. Parking-brake cable selection belongs to the separate rear brake installation.
