Product details

Choose this red-caliper package when the required early GM front conversion calls for plain-face rotors. Its 12.19-inch iron rotor pair and dual-pattern hubs replace the original rotating brake assembly on the specified 11-inch-rotor spindles. Bill Wood founded Wilwood Engineering in 1977; the company is based in Camarillo, California. Wilwood designs and manufactures calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines as part of its disc brake systems and component range for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. Each component must suit the requirements of the complete brake installation.

Fitment & Compatibility

For the listed 1970–1978 GM passenger-car applications with the specified factory disc-brake spindle and original 11-inch rotor arrangement. Camaro and Firebird are included alongside the qualified Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile and Pontiac entries below. The spindle configuration, rather than the badge alone, determines compatibility.

Installation requires substantial steering-arm/spindle work, including drilling and tapping mounting holes and removing interfering ears. Wilwood recommends a qualified machine shop. Hydraulic hose kit 220-10509 is separate; confirm its routing for the exact vehicle.

The wheel contact surface must seat fully on the hub. If it overhangs the hub face, Wilwood requires the separate 6.60-inch-diameter x 0.20-inch steel spacer 300-11961. For stamped-steel wheels that do not overhang, Wilwood recommends the 6.15-inch x 0.09-inch hub shield 300-10716. Inspect contact surfaces and follow the wheel maker’s tightening requirements.

  2. Requires modifications to original spindle
  3. Kit may fit some 15" wheels. Check wheel clearance diagram in kit installation instructions before purchase.
  4. Universal Flexline kits available: 220-7056 (14"), 220-7699 (16") or 220-8307 (18"). Choose correct length for your application.
  5. This front brake kit contains no parking-brake mechanism. Parking-brake cable selection belongs to the separate rear brake installation.
