Original GM 11-inch-rotor spindles are converted to separate hubs and 12.19-inch discs with this package. This Forged Dynalite front hub brake kit combines black powder-coated 4-piston calipers and 12.19-inch plain-face rotors. Founded in 1977 by Bill Wood and based in Camarillo, California, Wilwood Engineering designs and manufactures disc brake systems for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. Its range includes calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines, selected to work together as a complete brake system.

Fitment & Compatibility

Identify the original 11-inch-rotor front spindle before selecting this GM hub conversion. The listed vehicles span 1970–1978, but the supported years and spindle qualifiers differ between models. DS480 requires modifications to the original spindle, so this installation needs more than removal of the old caliper and rotor. The new hubs carry their own 1/2-20 wheel studs and offer the specified wheel bolt circles; verify the intended wheel pattern before assembly. A front disc-kit application should not be confused with parking-brake equipment mentioned in a general vehicle note. This front package supplies no rear parking-brake conversion. Check wheel placement, bearing installation and hydraulic hose travel as part of the completed assembly.

Package and installation requirements

  • Follow DS480 for spindle preparation and wheel clearance. Confirm brake-hose routing and master-cylinder compatibility as part of the complete system.
  • Included hubs provide 5 x 4.5 and 5 x 4.75-inch bolt circles with 1/2-20 wheel studs.
  • Wheel contact surfaces must be fully supported by the hub face. Where they overhang it, Wilwood requires its separately sold 6.60-inch-diameter x 0.20-inch steel spacer. For stamped-steel wheels that do not overhang, the instructions recommend the separate 6.15-inch-diameter x 0.09-inch hub shield. Verify the exact wheel with the installation instructions.
  • Wilwood specifies a -0.28-inch hub offset per side. Confirm the resulting wheel position on the installed spindle along with the caliper-clearance template.
