Product details

The red/plain-disc option is built for a custom wheel pattern on the old-style Currie Ford end. The Forged Dynalite rear disc and parking-brake kit is supplied with red powder-coated 4-piston calipers and 12.19-inch plain-face rotors for Currie Big Ford Old Style, blank wheel-pattern hats. Since Bill Wood founded the company in 1977, Camarillo, California-based Wilwood Engineering has designed and manufactured disc brake systems for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. Its components include calipers, rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines; all must be matched to the intended brake system.

Package and installation requirements

  • The one-piece iron drum/rotors incorporate the parking-brake drums; the internal shoes provide a mechanical parking brake independently of the four-piston service calipers.
  • Parking-brake cables and hydraulic brake lines are separate. Wilwood references universal cable kit 330-9371; installation can require cable or vehicle modifications.
  • The wheel-pattern sections are supplied blank. A qualified machine shop must establish the correct wheel bolt circle and stud clearance before installation; this is separate from the plain or SRP rotor friction-surface finish.

  • Sold as one kit. Mounting hardware is included. Hubs are not included.
  • Brake pads are included; use the compound and installation instructions specified for this rotor package.
  • Spindles, master cylinder, brake booster and hydraulic brake lines are not included.
  • Calipers: 4 pistons; forged aluminum; stainless steel pistons.
  • Caliper attachment: lug mount; 1/8-27 NPT hydraulic inlet.
  • Caliper finish: Red Powder Coat.

Fitment & Compatibility

This Currie package starts with an old-style Big Ford end and 2.36-inch axle offset, then leaves the wheel bolt circle for final machining. The blank hat section is a manufacturing provision for the wheel pattern, not a description of the disc friction face. Even the drilled-and-slotted SRP versions have undrilled wheel-mounting sections. Establish the intended axle pattern, stud clearance and machining plan before ordering; do not attempt to install an undrilled rotor directly on the axle. DS422 and the axle worksheet identify the mounting dimensions to verify. A Town Car application row does not remove the Currie-end and machining requirements. The finished installation also needs correctly connected parking cables and suitable hydraulic hoses, neither of which is supplied in this brake package.

Measure clearance at both the caliper and rotor using the instruction-sheet drawing. Wheels with the same nominal diameter can have different internal profiles.
