Product details

The polished/plain-disc version is sized for the specified original Chevrolet housing ends. Its polished 4-piston calipers and 12.19-inch plain-face rotors are assembled around the requirements of Chevrolet 12-bolt OE C-clip, 2.75/2.81-inch offset. Wilwood Engineering, founded by Bill Wood in 1977, designs and manufactures disc brake systems in Camarillo, California. The range includes calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications, with each component chosen to suit the complete brake system.

Fitment & Compatibility

This Chevrolet package is for the original 12-bolt housing-end design with C-clip axle retention. It accepts the specified 2.75- and 2.81-inch axle-offset arrangements; it is not the fixed-bearing Special-end kit. C-clip eliminators or replacement ends change the mounting requirements and are excluded. Compare the actual end with DS421 rather than selecting from a differential-cover description. The vehicle list includes modified GM applications, but their front spindle qualifiers do not identify the rear housing. Check that rear axle independently. Installation retains the original axle-retention arrangement while adding service discs and internal parking shoes. Brake lines, parking cables, wheel clearance and the hydraulic balance of the complete vehicle must be checked as separate parts of the conversion.

Print and use the manufacturer wheel template at its specified scale. Check the barrel, spoke shape and offset on the wheels that will actually be used.

Package and installation requirements

  • The one-piece iron drum/rotors incorporate the parking-brake drums; the internal shoes provide a mechanical parking brake independently of the four-piston service calipers.
  • Parking-brake cables and hydraulic brake lines are separate. Wilwood references universal cable kit 330-9371; installation can require cable or vehicle modifications.
  • Not for Special housing ends or C-clip eliminators.

  • Rotor/hat wheel-stud clearance patterns: 5 x 4.5 in; 5 x 114.3 mm; 5 x 4.75 in; 5 x 120.65 mm; 5 x 5 in; 5 x 127 mm.
  • Rotor/hat stud-hole clearance diameters: 0.52 in; 13.21 mm. These are hole sizes, not wheel-stud thread specifications.
  • The rotor/hat drilling does not change the vehicle hub or axle wheel bolt pattern.
