Product details

Polished calipers and SRP discs are paired for a retained-C-clip Chevrolet rear axle. For Chevrolet 12-bolt OE C-clip, 2.75/2.81-inch offset, Wilwood specifies polished 4-piston calipers and 12.19-inch SRP drilled-and-slotted rotors in this rear package. Bill Wood founded Wilwood Engineering in 1977. From Camarillo, California, the company designs and manufactures disc brake systems and components including calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. This kit should be matched to the hydraulic and mechanical requirements of the complete vehicle.

Package and installation requirements

  • The one-piece iron drum/rotors incorporate the parking-brake drums; the internal shoes provide a mechanical parking brake independently of the four-piston service calipers.
  • Parking-brake cables and hydraulic brake lines are separate. Wilwood references universal cable kit 330-9371; installation can require cable or vehicle modifications.
  • Not for Special housing ends or C-clip eliminators.

Fitment & Compatibility

This Chevrolet package is for the original 12-bolt housing-end design with C-clip axle retention. It accepts the specified 2.75- and 2.81-inch axle-offset arrangements; it is not the fixed-bearing Special-end kit. C-clip eliminators or replacement ends change the mounting requirements and are excluded. Compare the actual end with DS421 rather than selecting from a differential-cover description. The vehicle list includes modified GM applications, but their front spindle qualifiers do not identify the rear housing. Check that rear axle independently. Installation retains the original axle-retention arrangement while adding service discs and internal parking shoes. Brake lines, parking cables, wheel clearance and the hydraulic balance of the complete vehicle must be checked as separate parts of the conversion.

Before ordering, compare the wheel profile with the Wilwood clearance diagram. The stated minimum size does not establish spoke or barrel clearance for every wheel of that diameter.

  • Rotor/hat stud-hole clearance diameters: 0.52 in; 13.21 mm. These are hole sizes, not wheel-stud thread specifications.
  • The rotor/hat drilling does not change the vehicle hub or axle wheel bolt pattern.
  • Rotor dimensions: 12.19 in; 309.63 mm diameter x 0.81 in; 20.57 mm thick.
  • Rotor construction: Iron; vented; SRP Drilled & Slotted friction surface.
  • Housing/flange arrangement: 12 Bolt.
  • Axle flange offset: 2.75 in; 69.85 mm; 2.81 in; 71.37 mm.
  • Wheel-size guide: 15 in; 381 mm minimum nominal diameter; verify actual template clearance.
  • Calipers: 4 pistons; forged aluminum; stainless steel pistons.
  • Caliper attachment: lug mount; 1/8-27 NPT hydraulic inlet.
