Wilwood Red Rear Disc & Parking Conversion — 2.36-inch Old-Style Big Ford, Plain 12.19-inch Rotors

This red-caliper package uses plain discs and the old-style Ford bracket arrangement. The Forged Dynalite rear disc and parking-brake kit is supplied with red powder-coated 4-piston calipers and 12.19-inch plain-face rotors for Big Ford Old Style, 2.36-inch offset. Since Bill Wood founded the company in 1977, Camarillo, California-based Wilwood Engineering has designed and manufactured disc brake systems for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. Its components include calipers, rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines; all must be matched to the intended brake system.

Package and installation requirements

• Service braking uses the four-piston calipers. A separate set of shoes works inside the drum sections of the one-piece rotors to hold the vehicle when parked.
• Allow for hydraulic hoses and a parking-cable connection in addition to this kit. Wilwood lists universal cable assembly 330-9371, which may need vehicle or cable modifications.

• Brake pads are included; use the compound and installation instructions specified for this rotor package.
• Spindles, master cylinder, brake booster and hydraulic brake lines are not included.

Fitment & Compatibility

Choose this package by the old-style Big Ford housing end and the measured 2.36-inch axle offset. The word Ford alone is not sufficient: new-style/Torino and Small Ford ends use different bracket arrangements. Compare the mounting flange with DS419 and measure from the axle flange using Wilwood’s worksheet before dismantling the existing brakes. The application list includes a 1990 Lincoln Town Car row, but a changed axle assembly must still satisfy the specified end and offset. This conversion provides rear service discs plus an independent internal-shoe parking brake. Plan the cable connection as part of the installation; the brake kit does not include the cable assembly or hydraulic flexlines. A matching wheel bolt circle is only one check and does not establish housing compatibility.

Measure clearance at both the caliper and rotor using the instruction-sheet drawing. Wheels with the same nominal diameter can have different internal profiles.
