Product details
Wilwood front drag brakes for the Mopar A-body 9-inch drum spindle. Verify the exact early-year spindle and the 2,400/2,800-pound weight conditions. Wilwood Engineering, founded by Bill Wood in 1977, is based in Camarillo, California. It designs and manufactures disc brake systems for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. Its calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and lines must be selected to suit the complete braking system.
Technical Details
- Manufacturer part number: 140-2712-BD
- Calipers supplied: 4-piston forged aluminum construction; piston material stainless; external finish type iii anodized.
- Rotor selection: Diameter 10.75 in; width 0.35 in. The selected rotor has a drilled face and solid steel construction.
- Fluid connections: Use the lug-mount bracket arrangement and fittings matched to the 1/8-27 NPT caliper inlet.
- Hub wheel drilling: 5 x 4.5 in; 5 x 4.75 in (5 x 114.3 mm; 5 x 120.65 mm)
- Wheel fit: A 15-inch wheel is a starting dimension. Confirm the full wheel profile with the kit drawing.
- Package scope: Supplied: hubs, mounting hardware. Not included: master cylinder, booster, spindles, flexible brake lines.
- Manufacturer use/weight limit: For use on cars up to 2800 pounds with rear discs or on cars up to 2400 pounds with rear drums
Fitment & Compatibility
DS-181 specifies 1962–1972 A-body drum-spindle applications, while the fitment table below also lists earlier Valiant and Lancer rows. Confirm those earlier spindle applications with Wilwood before ordering. The required 9-inch drum spindle must be distinguished from the 10-inch version. Observe the 2,800-pound rear-disc or 2,400-pound rear-drum vehicle limit and arrange the appropriate master-cylinder mount adapter.

Application Notes
- Kit may fit some 14" wheels. Check wheel clearance diagram in kit installation instructions before purchase.
- Universal Flexline kits available: 220-7056 (14"), 220-7699 (16") or 220-8307 (18"). Choose correct length for your application.
- Master Cylinder will require two bolt to four bolt mounting adapter. Not available for purchase through Wilwood.
- This front brake kit supplies service-brake components. A parking-brake mechanism and parking-brake cables are not included; check the vehicle’s rear parking-brake arrangement separately.
