Wilwood Rear GT Brake Rotor Conversion with Aluminum Hats for Mazda Miata Sport Package (2001–2005)

The rear GT rotor package for Mazda Miata Sport Package combines 10.85 × 0.39-inch solid rings with aluminum hats. Original calipers remain in service, making hub registration and the Sport brake package the key selection checks. Established by Bill Wood in 1977 and based in Camarillo, California, Wilwood Engineering develops disc-brake systems and components for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. The range spans calipers and brake rotors through master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines, all requiring selection to suit the other parts of the brake system.

Technical Details

• Manufacturer part number: 140-17645; supplied as an axle kit.
• Hardware and retained components: Rotor rings, aluminum hats, registration adapters and rotor bolts supplied; reuse the factory rear calipers and wheel hubs. No brake pads are supplied.
• Wheel envelope: 15-inch minimum nominal wheel diameter; verify the entire wheel-clearance drawing, including spoke and barrel shape.
• Rotor specification: Material: Iron; Type: solid replacement rotor ring; Style: GT Slotted; Surface Finish: Plain.
• Rotor/hat mounting-hole pattern: 4 x 3.93 in; 4 x 99.82 mm; cataloged hole clearances 0.500 in; 12.70 mm. These are rotor or hat drillings, not replacement wheel studs. The retained hub or axle determines the vehicle wheel pattern.
• Brake rotor size: 10.85-inch outside diameter × 0.39-inch thickness; solid construction.
• Hydraulic lines: Original rear calipers and hydraulic connection remain; hydraulic hoses are not included.
• Rotor hats: Aluminum big brake hat - short offset; Black E-Coat; hat offset 0.750 inches. Hat offset is distinct from axle offset.

Fitment & Compatibility

Retain the Mazda Miata Sport Package OE rear calipers with this GT rotor replacement. DS1566 covers the 2001–2005 factory hub, and the table below records the Sports Suspension and 2001 VIN distinctions. Verify hat registration, the four-lug hub and 15-inch wheel clearance. The kit supplies rotor rings, hats, registration adapters and bolts, with no calipers, pads or flexlines.
