This Wilwood Superlite 4R rear inboard sprint brake kit places one four-piston radial-mount caliper over a dynamically mounted 12.19 × 0.81-inch GT rotor. It is a race-only assembly for the specified side-bell and 46-spline axle interface, with a splined rotor adapter rather than a road-wheel hub. From its base in Camarillo, California, Wilwood Engineering designs and manufactures disc-brake components and systems. Bill Wood founded the company in 1977. Motorsport, specialized applications and street-performance vehicles use its range of calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines, with component selection matched to the finished brake system.
Technical Details
- Manufacturer part number: 140-17141; one inboard racing brake assembly.
- Axle and bell interface: 3.00-inch × 46-spline axle and 3.50-inch mounting centers; dynamic rotor attachment. The splined adapter is not a wheel bolt circle.
- Brake rotor size: 12.19-inch outside diameter × 0.81-inch thickness; vented friction section.
- Hydraulic lines: Hydraulic flexlines and fittings are not included; select compatible lines for the complete installation.
- Hydraulic sizing: cataloged bore sizes 1.88, 1.75 inches; piston area 5.18 square inches.
- Wheel envelope: Use the inboard mounting and caliper envelope in the installation drawing; this is not a wheel-diameter specification.
- Service calipers: Forged Superlite 4 Radial Mount; 4 pistons per caliper; Type III Anodize; radial mounting; stainless pistons.
- Hardware and retained components: Mounting hardware supplied; splined inboard rotor adapter supplied; spindles, master cylinder and brake booster are not included.
- Rotor specification: Material: Spec-37 Iron; Type: GT 36 Curved Vane; Style: GT Slotted; Surface Finish: Plain.
- Supplied friction pads: BP-40 compound; match operating conditions to the intended use.
Fitment & Compatibility
This is a rear inboard sprint-car racing installation, not an outboard wheel-brake conversion. DS1539 specifies 3.50-inch mounting centers and a 3.00-inch × 46-spline axle. Match the existing side bell and dynamic rotor attachment to the assembly drawing; the splined adapter is not a wheel hub or wheel bolt pattern. BP-40 pads and the racing configuration are unsuitable for ordinary street use. This is a racing selection; review the pad operating range and maintenance requirements before use.
