Vehicle Fitment

Vehicle fitment and required brake configuration
Porsche model Years Version / application Required brake setup
911 1999–2008 Carrera Matched 996/997 rear setup; original hubs and internal parking brake
911 1999–2008 Carrera 4 Matched 996/997 rear setup; original hubs and internal parking brake
911 2002–2005 Targa Matched 996/997 rear setup; original hubs and internal parking brake
911 2007–2008 Targa 4 Matched 996/997 rear setup; original hubs and internal parking brake
911 2009–2012 Carrera Matched 996/997 rear setup; original hubs and internal parking brake; for 2012, confirm the specified 997 brake arrangement

Match the brakes and suspension actually fitted to the car. Changed struts, hubs, uprights or previous brake conversions need a separate fitment check.

The ranges vary by trim. A 2012 model year does not establish 991 compatibility. Turbo, GT3, Carrera S/4S, ceramic/PCCB brakes, Boxster, Cayman and other unlisted brake configurations need a different fitment check.

Why choose this kit?

  • Pair four-piston rear calipers with 12.98-inch vented rotors while retaining the original internal parking brake on the listed 996/997 applications.
  • 4-piston Superlite 4R calipers: forged aluminum bodies with stainless steel pistons.
  • BP-10 street-performance pads: a practical compound for everyday response and wear. Dedicated track use may require a different pad compound, fluid and cooling plan.

What is included?

  • 2 Superlite 4R calipers in the selected finish, 4 pistons per caliper.
  • 1 axle set of BP-10 brake pads, enough for both rear calipers.
  • 2 vented rotors, 12.98 × 1.10 inches, in the selected surface pattern.
  • 2 caliper mounting brackets with the specified mounting hardware.
  • 1 rear braided stainless steel flexline kit, part 220-17385, serving both wheels with the specified connection hardware.

Reused or purchased separately: Wheel hubs, struts/uprights, master cylinder, brake booster, wheels and brake fluid are not included. Original parking-brake shoes, hardware and cables are retained and are not supplied as new parts.

Wheel clearance and installation

Wilwood lists a 17-inch nominal minimum wheel diameter. Diameter alone does not confirm fit: check the barrel and spoke profile against the wheel-clearance drawing and Figure 2, page 3 of the instructions. Maintain at least 0.080 inch (about 2mm) between the wheel and caliper in all areas.

The installer must check hose fittings, length and clearance through full suspension travel. The original chassis hose bracket may need its hole slightly enlarged for the supplied adapter. Factory pad-wear sensors are not used by these calipers; retain and secure the sensor wiring as described in the instructions.

Common questions

Does one kit cover the whole car?

No. Quantity 1 covers both rear wheels. The opposite axle is a separate purchase; select it for your car’s actual brake configuration and evaluate the finished front-to-rear balance.

What happens to the parking brake?

The original internal parking-brake arrangement is retained. Inspect and adjust its shoes, hardware and cable, and confirm the rotor drum interface during installation. Replacement parking-brake components are not included.

Do I need a different master cylinder?

Wilwood’s instructions permit the stock master cylinder for the documented application. The installer must still confirm pedal travel, system condition and front-to-rear brake balance, especially on a modified car. Wilwood specifies compatibility with the original ABS function on the listed applications.
