Product details
The 14.00-inch FNSL6R front conversion uses six-piston Superlite calipers, separate rotor hats and aluminum hubs for the Tri-Five ProSpindle layout. Red calipers and 14.00-inch SRP drilled & slotted rotors are the selected configuration. This larger-rotor version requires the matching wheel envelope and spindle geometry. Bill Wood founded Wilwood Engineering in 1977; the company is based in Camarillo, California. Wilwood designs and manufactures calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines for motorsport, street-performance and specialized systems, with selection governed by the complete brake installation.
Technical Details
- Kit supplied under manufacturer part number 140-16909-DR; one listed axle/application assembly.
- Each service caliper uses 6 stainless pistons and the Forged Narrow Superlite 6R body design. It attaches through radial mounts and carries a red powder coat finish.
- The hat specification calls for aluminum, black e-coat and an offset of 1.100 inch.
- The specified caliper hydraulic connection is 1/8-27 NPT.
- This package excludes flexible brake hoses. Select the documented caliper and chassis-end connections separately.
- The rotor friction surfaces are SRP drilled & slotted. The assembly diameter is 14.00 inches; rotor width is 1.10 inch and material is Spec-37 Iron.
- An axle pad set in BP-10 compound accompanies the calipers, whose published bores are 1.62, 1.12, 1.12 inches.
- Wheel hubs are part of this package: aluminum construction, 5 x 4.50, 5 x 4.75-inch patterns and 1/2-20 wheel studs; bearings and seals are included.
- An 18-inch nominal wheel is the starting point. Its spoke and barrel shape must clear the actual brake assembly.
- Mounting hardware and brake pads come with the kit. Spindles, a master cylinder and a brake booster are not included.
Fitment & Compatibility
The required Wilwood Tri-Five ProSpindle is the separately sold 831-16660 kit; original steering arms are reused. This Superlite configuration uses 14.00-inch rotors and has a published 0.23-inch outward hub offset on each side, making wheel track and spoke clearance part of the selection. It covers the listed Bel Air, Nomad, One-Fifty Series, Sedan Delivery and Two-Ten Series 1955–1957 plus Del Ray 1957. Match the hub stud pattern and 18-inch wheel drawing and provide suitable hoses. The table below preserves the individual vehicle and brake-option entries; select the complete matching row before ordering.
With over 20 years of parts and application experience, PMB Performance can help compare this assembly with your existing brakes. Supply the hub, axle or spindle specification and wheel-clearance information before ordering.
