Product details

TX4R four-piston rear calipers and 16.00-inch one-piece rotors replace the specified GM truck rear service brakes while retaining the factory parking-brake components. This kit uses the existing axle hubs and requires separately selected hydraulic flexlines. Black calipers and 16.00-inch GT slotted rotors are the selected configuration. Founded by Bill Wood in 1977 and based in Camarillo, California, Wilwood Engineering designs and manufactures disc brake systems and components for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. Its range includes calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines, chosen to match the complete system.

Technical Details

  • The Wilwood manufacturer part number is 140-16861. This product is sold as a kit.
  • The black powder coat caliper bodies are TX4R units with 4 pistons. Stainless pistons and radial mounts are specified.
  • 16.00-inch rotors are supplied in the GT slotted configuration; the published thickness is 1.25 inch. These rotors use Iron.
  • Friction material supplied is BP-22; the caliper bore measurements are 1.62, 1.38 inches.
  • The original hub arrangement must be retained or provided separately. No replacement wheel hubs come with the kit.
  • Caliper inlet thread is 1/8-27 NPT.
  • Published minimum rim diameter is 20 inches. Use the template to check spoke clearance as well.
  • Provide suitable flexible hoses and caliper/chassis fittings; the brake kit does not supply flexlines.
  • Retains the specified original parking-brake components; it does not supply new parking shoes, cables or electric actuators.
  • Supplied items include the pads and mounting fasteners; no replacement spindle, master cylinder or booster is included.

Fitment & Compatibility

Match the exact OE rear-brake configuration and axle, especially the single-piston versus HD dual-piston distinctions. The table names Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Pickup/1500/1500 LD, Tahoe, Avalanche, Suburban 1500/Suburban; GMC Sierra 1500 Pickup/1500/1500 Limited, Yukon, Yukon XL 1500/Yukon XL; and Cadillac Escalade, Escalade EXT and Escalade ESV. Year coverage varies by model within 1999–2020, with Classic/New Style, police and four-wheel-steering restrictions. Dust-shield trimming is required, and the original parking-brake mechanism must remain serviceable.
