Wilwood Front Brake Kit for Chevrolet/GMC DSE C10 Trucks (1973–1987) with Red AERO6 Calipers and 14.25-Inch GT Slotted Rotors

AERO6 six-piston calipers and 14.25-inch rotor rings form this front brake conversion for the Detroit Speed C10 drop-spindle arrangement. Separate hats fit over the matching hubs, so the kit selection must follow the installed DSE spindle and hub combination. Red calipers and 14.25-inch GT slotted rotors are the selected configuration. Based in Camarillo, California, Wilwood Engineering was established by Bill Wood in 1977. Its disc brake systems serve motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. Calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines are matched to the requirements of the whole system.

Technical Details

• Kit supplied under manufacturer part number 140-16780-R; one listed axle/application assembly.
• Each service caliper uses 6 stainless pistons and the AERO6 body design. It attaches through radial mounts and carries a red powder coat finish.
• The hat specification calls for aluminum, black e-coat and an offset of 0.810 inch.
• Verify the existing hub dimensions: replacement wheel hubs are outside the scope of this package.
• An 18-inch nominal wheel is the starting point. Its spoke and barrel shape must clear the actual brake assembly.
• Mounting hardware and brake pads come with the kit. Spindles, a master cylinder and a brake booster are not included.
• The rotor friction surfaces are GT slotted. The assembly diameter is 14.25 inches; rotor width is 1.25 inch and material is Spec-37 Iron.
• An axle pad set in BP-20 compound accompanies the calipers, whose published bores are 1.75, 1.38, 1.38 inches.
• Match the retained hub to the hat holes (5 x 4.75, 5 x 5.00 inches); no new wheel-hub pattern is created.
• The specified caliper hydraulic connection is 1/8-27 NPT.
• This package excludes flexible brake hoses. Select the documented caliper and chassis-end connections separately.

Fitment & Compatibility

Requires the Detroit Speed and Engineering 1973–1987 C10 drop spindle; original equipment spindles are not compatible. The application table separates Chevrolet Blazer, C10/C10 Pickup, C10 Suburban, K5 Blazer, R10 Pickup and R10 Suburban from GMC C15/C1500 Suburban, C1500 Pickup, Jimmy, C15 Suburban, C1500 Suburban, R1500 Pickup and R1500 Suburban. Match each year and spindle entry. The two hat drillings do not change the retained hub wheel pattern.
