Wilwood Front Brake Conversion, Black AERO6 / GT Slotted 14.25-Inch Package for Chevrolet/GMC DSE C10 Trucks (1973–1987)

AERO6 six-piston calipers and 14.25-inch rotor rings form this front brake conversion for the Detroit Speed C10 drop-spindle arrangement. Separate hats fit over the matching hubs, so the kit selection must follow the installed DSE spindle and hub combination. Black calipers and 14.25-inch GT slotted rotors are the selected configuration. Founded by Bill Wood in 1977 and based in Camarillo, California, Wilwood Engineering designs and manufactures disc brake systems and components for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. Its range includes calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines, chosen to match the complete system.

Technical Details

• Order specification: manufacturer part number 140-16780; quantity one brake kit.
• The piston diameter specification is 1.75, 1.38, 1.38 inches, paired with BP-20 brake pads.
• Hats are made from aluminum with a black e-coat surface treatment. Their offset dimension is 0.810 inch.
• Hat drillings: 5 x 4.75, 5 x 5.00 inches; the existing wheel hub still determines the wheel-lug pattern.
• Matching existing wheel hubs are retained; replacement hubs are not included.
• Hydraulic inlet: 1/8-27 NPT.
• Nominal wheel minimum: 18 inches; verify the complete caliper profile against the wheel drawing.
• Flexlines are not included. Choose the required hydraulic hoses and adapters separately.
• Pads and mounting hardware are included. Spindles, master cylinder and brake booster are separate.
• Brake rotor specification: GT 72 Curved Vane, with GT slotted friction faces. Overall size is 14.25 × 1.25 inches. Material: Spec-37 Iron.
• Radial-mounted AERO6 calipers are supplied. Each has 6 pistons in stainless, with black powder coat on the caliper body.

Fitment & Compatibility

Requires the Detroit Speed and Engineering 1973–1987 C10 drop spindle; original equipment spindles are not compatible. The application table separates Chevrolet Blazer, C10/C10 Pickup, C10 Suburban, K5 Blazer, R10 Pickup and R10 Suburban from GMC C15/C1500 Suburban, C1500 Pickup, Jimmy, C15 Suburban, C1500 Suburban, R1500 Pickup and R1500 Suburban. Match each year and spindle entry. The two hat drillings do not change the retained hub wheel pattern.
