Product details
Two-piece 12.88-inch GT rotors and black Superlite four-piston calipers form this Chevy 12-bolt rear conversion. The aluminum hats and brackets must match the C-clip axle arrangement, while independent EPB units provide the parking function. Wilwood Engineering, founded by Bill Wood in 1977, designs and manufactures disc brake systems from Camarillo, California. Its motorsport, street-performance and specialized product range spans calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines. A conversion must be considered as a complete brake system when selecting those parts.
Technical Details
- Manufacturer part number: 140-16165; supplied as one rear axle brake kit.
- Caliper finish and port: Black Powder Coat; hydraulic inlet 1/8-27 NPT.
- Rotor mounting hats: Aluminum; Black E-Coat; hat offset 2.035 inches. This is a hat dimension, not the axle offset.
- Rotor dimensions: 12.88 in; 327.15 mm outside diameter; 1.10 in; 27.94 mm thick.
- Cataloged rotor/hat mounting-hole pattern: 5 x 4.5 in; 5 x 114.3 mm; 5 x 4.75 in; 5 x 120.65 mm; 5 x 5 in; 5 x 127 mm bolt circle; cataloged stud-hole clearances 0.520 in; 13.21 mm. The existing hub or axle flange determines the vehicle wheel pattern and stud specification. These rotor/hat drillings do not convert that pattern.
- Supplied service pads: BP-10 compound; verify suitability for the intended operating conditions.
- Hydraulic service calipers: Forged Narrow Superlite 4R; 4 pistons per caliper; Forged Aluminium body; radial mounting; Stainless pistons.
- Rotor material and surface: Spec-37 Iron; vented; GT Slotted; surface finish Black Electro Coat.
- Minimum nominal wheel diameter: 17 in; 431.8 mm; full spoke/barrel clearance must be checked using the installation drawing.
- Parking-brake package: Two separate electric parking calipers, control unit, switch with pigtail and universal wiring harness included; vehicle electrical connections require installation.
- Rear axle interface: 12 Bolt housing flange; 2.75 in; 69.85 mm axle offset. Measure the installed assembly.
- Hydraulic installation: Hydraulic lines and fittings are separate and must be selected for the vehicle; master cylinder not included; brake booster not included.
- Mechanical contents: Separate wheel hubs are not included; mounting hardware supplied; spindles not included.
Fitment & Compatibility
Use only an axle that matches the documented 12 Bolt flange and 2.75-inch offset. Rear-end names can conceal different bearing flanges, so measure the installed parts. Check the rotor register, studs, axle retention and complete wheel outline rather than relying on the nominal 17-inch wheel size. Confirm C-clip axle retention and end play; a C-clip eliminator or different housing flange requires its own fit assessment.
Use the fitment table below together with a measured axle check. A model name alone does not establish conversion compatibility; compare the flange, axle offset, register and chosen wheel pattern. For Chevelle, 442, Beaumont, Camaro and Apollo vehicles, establish rear-axle fit independently of the front spindle configuration. Confirm the housing flange, axle retention and offset on the installed rear assembly.
The EPB is a parking-hold system, not an emergency stopping brake. It includes a separate left/right motor-driven caliper pair, control unit, switch with pigtail and universal wiring harness. Vehicle power, ground, ignition/accessory connections and protected cable routing must be installed to DS1353; it is not a plug-in factory-harness replacement.
Contact PMB Performance if the installed hardware differs from the documented arrangement. More than 20 years of parts experience informs our fitment review; photographs and measured dimensions are particularly useful.
Review the Installation instructions, Technical bulletin, EPB mounting and wiring instructions before selecting hardware or checking wheel clearance.
