Product details
Red Dynalite service calipers clamp drilled-and-slotted 12.19-inch iron rotors in this Chevy rear conversion. Matching red motor-driven parking calipers work independently, using the supplied switch and control hardware rather than mechanical parking cables. Wilwood Engineering has its base in Camarillo, California and was founded by Bill Wood in 1977. The company’s work covers disc brake systems and components for specialized vehicles, street-performance applications and motorsport. Calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines must be chosen with the rest of the braking system in mind.
Technical Details
- Manufacturer part number — 140-16164-DR; supplied as one rear axle brake kit.
- Mechanical contents — Separate wheel hubs are not included; mounting hardware supplied; spindles not included.
- Parking-brake package — Two separate electric parking calipers, control unit, switch with pigtail and universal wiring harness included; vehicle electrical connections require installation.
- Rotor material and surface — Iron; vented; SRP Drilled & Slotted; surface finish Black Electro Coat.
- Hydraulic installation — Hydraulic lines and fittings are separate and must be selected for the vehicle; master cylinder not included; brake booster not included.
- Rotor dimensions — 12.19 in; 309.63 mm outside diameter; 0.81 in; 20.57 mm thick.
- Cataloged rotor/hat mounting-hole pattern — 5 x 4.5 in; 5 x 114.3 mm; 5 x 4.75 in; 5 x 120.65 mm; 5 x 5 in; 5 x 127 mm bolt circle; cataloged stud-hole clearances 0.52 in; 13.21 mm. The existing hub or axle flange determines the vehicle wheel pattern and stud specification. These rotor/hat drillings do not convert that pattern.
- Hydraulic service calipers — Forged Dynalite Internal; 4 pistons per caliper; Forged Aluminium body; lug mounting; Stainless pistons.
- Minimum nominal wheel diameter — 15 in; 381 mm; full spoke/barrel clearance must be checked using the installation drawing.
- Rear axle interface — 12 Bolt housing flange; 2.75 in; 69.85 mm axle offset. Measure the installed assembly.
- Supplied service pads — BP-10 compound; verify suitability for the intended operating conditions.
- Caliper finish and port — Red Powder Coat; hydraulic inlet 1/8-27 NPT.
Fitment & Compatibility
Match the actual rear axle to the 12 Bolt diagram and 2.75-inch offset before disassembly. Verify the bearing arrangement, axle register and wheel-bolt pattern independently, including any changes made during a previous axle conversion. Use the full 15-inch minimum wheel envelope for both caliper positions. Confirm C-clip axle retention and end play; a C-clip eliminator or different housing flange requires its own fit assessment.
Review the fitment table below after identifying the rear axle. Confirm housing-flange dimensions, retention hardware, offset, register and wheel pattern against the kit drawing. For Chevelle, 442, Beaumont, Camaro and Apollo vehicles, establish rear-axle fit independently of the front spindle configuration. Confirm the housing flange, axle retention and offset on the installed rear assembly.
The EPB is a parking-hold system, not an emergency stopping brake. It includes a separate left/right motor-driven caliper pair, control unit, switch with pigtail and universal wiring harness. Vehicle power, ground, ignition/accessory connections and protected cable routing must be installed to DS1353; it is not a plug-in factory-harness replacement.
Contact PMB Performance if the installed hardware differs from the documented arrangement. More than 20 years of parts experience informs our fitment review; photographs and measured dimensions are particularly useful.
Review the Installation instructions, Technical bulletin, EPB mounting and wiring instructions before selecting hardware or checking wheel clearance.
