Wilwood Superlite 4R Rear EPB Kit for Big Ford New-Style Axles, Black Calipers, 12.88-Inch GT Rotors and 2.36-Inch Offset

Two-piece 12.88-inch GT rotor assemblies are operated by black radial-mount Superlite 4R service calipers in this rear conversion. A second caliper at each wheel provides electric parking hold, with brackets selected for the new-style Big Ford bearing flange. Wilwood Engineering was established in 1977 by Bill Wood and is based in Camarillo, California. It designs and manufactures disc brake equipment for specialized applications, motorsport and street-performance use. The product range includes calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines; each is chosen to meet the complete system’s requirements.

Technical Details

• Manufacturer part number: 140-16131; supplied as one rear axle brake kit.
• Hydraulic installation: Hydraulic lines and fittings are separate and must be selected for the vehicle; master cylinder not included; brake booster not included.
• Minimum nominal wheel diameter: 17 in; 431.8 mm; full spoke/barrel clearance must be checked using the installation drawing.
• Supplied service pads: BP-10 compound; verify suitability for the intended operating conditions.
• Hydraulic service calipers: Forged Narrow Superlite 4R; 4 pistons per caliper; Forged Aluminium body; radial mounting; Stainless pistons.
• Mechanical contents: Separate wheel hubs are not included; mounting hardware supplied; spindles not included.
• Rotor mounting hats: Aluminum; Black E-Coat; hat offset 1.625 inches. This is a hat dimension, not the axle offset.
• Rear axle interface: Big Ford New Style housing flange; 2.36 in; 59.94 mm axle offset. Measure the installed assembly.
• Parking-brake package: Two separate electric parking calipers, control unit, switch with pigtail and universal wiring harness included; vehicle electrical connections require installation.
• Caliper finish and port: Black Powder Coat; hydraulic inlet 1/8-27 NPT.
• Cataloged rotor/hat mounting-hole pattern: 5 x 4.5 in; 5 x 114.3 mm; 5 x 4.75 in; 5 x 120.65 mm; 5 x 5 in; 5 x 127 mm bolt circle; cataloged stud-hole clearances 0.520 in; 13.21 mm. The existing hub or axle flange determines the vehicle wheel pattern and stud specification. These rotor/hat drillings do not convert that pattern.
• Rotor material and surface: Spec-37 Iron; vented; GT Slotted; surface finish Black Electro Coat.
• Rotor dimensions: 12.88 in; 327.15 mm outside diameter; 1.10 in; 27.94 mm thick.

Fitment & Compatibility

Use only an axle that matches the documented Big Ford New Style flange and 2.36-inch offset. Rear-end names can conceal different bearing flanges, so measure the installed parts. Check the rotor register, studs, axle retention and complete wheel outline rather than relying on the nominal 17-inch wheel size.

Vehicle fitment in the table below remains conditional on axle identity. Measure the housing flange, bearing/retention arrangement, register and offset rather than relying on vehicle year. For a 1990 Lincoln Town Car, identify the actual axle and confirm the specified interface; do not select this conversion from model and year alone.

Two dedicated motorized calipers provide parking hold separately from the hydraulic service calipers. The kit supplies their switch with pigtail, control unit and universal wiring harness. DS1353 covers the required 12V vehicle connections and component placement. The EPB is not an emergency stopping brake.
