Product details

For a listed GM truck or SUV converted to Wilwood iron Pro Drop spindles, this kit supplies red Superlite 6R front calipers and 14-inch GT rotors. Aluminum hubs provide a 6 × 5.50-inch wheel pattern, while separate hats carry the slotted rotor rings. BP-20 pads are included. Verify the spindle, production-year wheel-position change and the actual 18-inch wheel profile before finalizing the conversion. Wilwood Engineering was established in 1977 by Bill Wood in Camarillo, California. The company designs and manufactures disc-brake systems and components, from calipers and rotors to master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines, for motorsport, street-performance and specialized installations. Each component must match the rest of the brake system.

  • Manufacturer part number: 140-15946-R. Quantity: one kit for the stated axle/application.
  • Supplied hub assembly: Hub - Hat Mount, aluminum, bare finish.
  • Wheel mounting pattern: 6 x 5.50 inches.
  • Service caliper: Forged Narrow Superlite 6R; 6 pistons; stainless piston material. Radial mounting, red powder coat finish.
  • Published piston bores: 1.75, 1.25, 1.25 inches. Supplied pad compound: BP-20.
  • Rotor specification: 14.00-inch outside diameter × 1.25-inch thickness; GT slotted faces. Spec-37 Iron construction; GT 72 Curved Vane design; published vane configuration: 72 CV.
  • Rotor hats: aluminum, black e-coat finish; Big Brake Hat - Flared Bell. Hat offset: 1.380 inch.
  • Minimum nominal wheel diameter: 18 inches. The wheel must also clear the actual caliper and rotor profile in the installation drawing.
  • Caliper hydraulic inlet: 1/8-27 NPT.
  • Brake hoses are not included. Manufacturer line-kit reference(s), sold separately: 220-7056, 220-11237, 220-12168.
  • Mounting hardware and the specified pads are included. Spindles, master cylinder and brake booster are not supplied.

Fitment & Compatibility

The red/GT kit is selected by the required Wilwood iron ProSpindle and six-lug wheel interface. It does not work on the original equipment spindle, and the required one-piece iron Pro Drop spindles are sold separately. Confirm the 6 × 5.50-inch wheels and compare their actual barrel/spoke space to the 18-inch clearance drawing. Refer to the table below for each listed GM truck/SUV model, year and spindle note. Wheel location changes relative to stock by 0.41 inch outward for 1963–1970 builds, or 0.06 inch inward for 1971–1987 builds; include that change in wheel-backspacing calculations. Choose compatible braided lines separately and assess the full front/rear braking combination.
