Wilwood Red Superlite 6R Front Brakes for 1968–1972 F-100 Drum Spindles, Drilled/Slotted Rotors and Five-Lug Hubs

This Wilwood Superlite 6R kit is a front 12.88-inch hub upgrade for 1968–1972 Ford F-100 4 x 2 Drum Spindles. This later F-100 hub package uses separate aluminum hubs, 12.88-inch rotors and six-piston Superlite calipers. Bill Wood founded Wilwood Engineering in 1977. Based in Camarillo, California, the company designs and manufactures complete disc brake systems and individual calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines for motorsport, street-performance and specialized installations.

Technical Details

• Manufacturer part number: 140-14840-DR.
• 5 x 4.5 in; 5 x 114.3 mm; 5 x 4.75 in; 5 x 120.65 mm is the listed wheel mounting pattern(s) dimension. Wheel-stud thread: 1/2-20.
• Aluminum hubs are provided separately from the rotor components, with the specified wheel patterns and studs.
• Friction surface and size: srp drilled & slotted; 12.88 in; 327.15 mm diameter x 1.10 in; 27.94 mm thickness. The rotor material is Spec-37 Iron in a vented design.
• This is a two-piece disc arrangement using aluminum hats in Black E-Coat.
• The calipers are Superlite 6R units with a Red Powder Coat exterior. A forged aluminum body locates 6 stainless pistons; attachment is radial mount.
• The matched pads use BP-10. Manufacturer bore figures for the caliper are 1.62, 1.12, 1.12 inches.
• The caliper accepts the listed 1/8-27 NPT hydraulic connection.
• Wheel minimum: 17 in; 431.8 mm. Confirm the complete wheel shape and mounting hardware clear the brake drawing.
• Brake lines are a separate purchase. Verify end fittings, safe routing and the length needed for this application. Separate reference: 220-11237.
• No spindle, booster or master cylinder is included; the kit does contain mounting hardware for the stated installation.
• This listing supplies one kit for the documented brake configuration.

Fitment & Compatibility

Use the listed 1968–1972 F-100 4 x 2 factory drum spindles and the specific DS-1266 hub/bearing configuration. The supplied hubs have 5 x 4.50/5 x 4.75-inch wheel patterns. The 1957–1967 spindle kit uses a different hub; choose by the actual spindle and bearings. Models covered: F-100.
