Wilwood Black Superlite Front Disc Conversion for 1968–1972 F-100 4x2, 12.88-Inch GT Rotors and Separate Aluminum Hubs

This Wilwood Superlite 6R kit is a front 12.88-inch hub upgrade for 1968–1972 Ford F-100 4 x 2 Drum Spindles. This later F-100 hub package uses separate aluminum hubs, 12.88-inch rotors and six-piston Superlite calipers. Founded by Bill Wood in 1977 and based in Camarillo, California, Wilwood Engineering develops disc brake systems for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. Its calipers, rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines must be selected as parts of a complete, matched braking system.

Technical Details

• Manufacturer part number: 140-14840.
• Wheel mounting pattern(s) measure 5 x 4.5 in; 5 x 114.3 mm; 5 x 4.75 in; 5 x 120.65 mm. The associated wheel-stud thread is 1/2-20.
• Supplied aluminum hubs provide the wheel mounting; verify the patterns and stud threads stated above.
• The friction discs measure 12.88 in; 327.15 mm across and 1.10 in; 27.94 mm thick; gt slotted surfaces are used on vented Spec-37 Iron rotors.
• The rotor rings attach to separate aluminum hats with a Black E-Coat finish.
• Each caliper carries 6 pistons made from stainless. The Superlite 6R design uses forged aluminum, radial mounting and a Black Powder Coat finish.
• BP-20 pads are supplied; the listed bore dimensions are 1.62, 1.12, 1.12 inches.
• Connect the brake line to the specified 1/8-27 NPT inlet.
• Start wheel selection at 17 in; 431.8 mm; the barrel and spokes still need checking against the caliper-clearance template.
• Order suitable flexlines separately; none are included. Match the chassis fittings and allow full steering/suspension travel. Separate reference: 220-11237.
• This package includes its mounting fasteners. It excludes the spindles, master cylinder and booster.
• Sold as a complete kit for the specified front installation.

Fitment & Compatibility

Use the listed 1968–1972 F-100 4 x 2 factory drum spindles and the specific DS-1266 hub/bearing configuration. The supplied hubs have 5 x 4.50/5 x 4.75-inch wheel patterns. The 1957–1967 spindle kit uses a different hub; choose by the actual spindle and bearings. Models covered: F-100.
