Product details
This Wilwood Dynalite-M kit is a front drum-spindle disc conversion for 1965–1968 Chevrolet Bel Air, Biscayne, Impala and Caprice. The 11.50-inch one-piece rotor/hub castings use four-piston Dynalite-M calipers and a dedicated later-Chevrolet spindle bracket. Founded by Bill Wood in 1977 and based in Camarillo, California, Wilwood Engineering develops disc brake systems for motorsport, street-performance and specialized applications. Its calipers, rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines must be selected as parts of a complete, matched braking system.
Technical Details
- Manufacturer part number: 140-14808-R.
- Iron forms the vented rotors. Each disc has a plain face, an outside diameter of 11.50 in; 292.1 mm and thickness of 1.00 in; 25.4 mm.
- Red Powder Coat Dynalite-M calipers are supplied. Their forged aluminum bodies use the lug mounting arrangement with 4 stainless pistons in each caliper.
- Piston sizes listed by Wilwood are 1.75, 1.75 inches, with BP-10 friction material in this kit.
- Hydraulic fitting interface on each caliper: 1/8-27 NPT.
- Match 5 x 4.5 in; 5 x 114.3 mm; 5 x 4.75 in; 5 x 120.65 mm at the wheel mounting pattern(s) interface, with 0.50 in; 12.70 mm as the listed stud diameter.
- Wheel-hub and rotor functions share one supplied iron component rather than a separate aluminum hub and hat.
- Published wheel minimum is 15 in; 381 mm, subject to the required inside-profile check. Rotor diameter is a separate measurement.
- Application-specific mounting hardware is supplied. Provide or retain the correct spindle, master cylinder and brake booster separately.
- The package excludes hydraulic hoses. Choose compatible connections and line length for the specific installation. Separate reference: 220-7699.
- Package quantity is one application-specific brake kit.
Fitment & Compatibility
Use the listed 1965–1968 Bel Air, Biscayne and Impala plus 1966–1968 Caprice drum-brake spindles. DS-1250 distinguishes this bearing/bracket interface from earlier Impala assemblies. Do not select it for a factory-disc spindle solely by model/year. Models covered: Bel Air, Biscayne, Impala and Caprice. Use the complete application table at the bottom for the precise year, submodel, brake option and note attached to each row.
For fitment assistance, provide PMB Performance with the existing brake configuration and measured mounting/wheel details. Our 20+ years of parts experience support checking the complete assembly rather than relying only on a model name.
Manufacturer Warning
Applicable to the included brake pads only: Wilwood warns of exposure to arsenic, cadmium, hexavalent chromium compounds, lead, nickel, cobalt and antimony trioxide, chemicals known to California to cause cancer or reproductive harm. More information: www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
