Wilwood Red Superlite 6R Front Brake Conversion for 1964–1970 Chevy and GMC 2WD Trucks, Plain One-Piece Rotor/Hubs

This Wilwood Superlite 6R kit is a front drum-to-disc conversion for 1964–1970 Chevy and GMC 2WD Trucks. One-piece iron 11.86 x 1.25-inch rotor/hub castings replace the drum assemblies and work with radial six-piston Superlite calipers. From its Camarillo, California base, Wilwood Engineering designs disc brake systems for motorsport, street-performance and specialized needs. Founded in 1977 by Bill Wood, its range covers calipers, rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines chosen to work within a complete brake system.

Technical Details

• Manufacturer part number: 140-14474-R.
• Iron forms the vented rotors. Each disc has a plain face, an outside diameter of 11.86 in; 301.24 mm and thickness of 1.25 in; 31.75 mm.
• Red Powder Coat Superlite 6R calipers are supplied. Their forged aluminum bodies use the radial mounting arrangement with 6 stainless pistons in each caliper.
• Piston sizes listed by Wilwood are 1.75, 1.25, 1.25 inches, with BP-10 friction material in this kit.
• Hydraulic fitting interface on each caliper: 1/8-27 NPT.
• Match 5 x 4.75 in; 5 x 120.65 mm; 5 x 5 in; 5 x 127 mm at the wheel mounting pattern(s) interface, with 0.50 in; 12.70 mm as the listed stud diameter.
• Wheel-hub and rotor functions share one supplied iron component rather than a separate aluminum hub and hat.
• Published wheel minimum is 15 in; 381 mm, subject to the required inside-profile check. Rotor diameter is a separate measurement.
• Application-specific mounting hardware is supplied. Provide or retain the correct spindle, master cylinder and brake booster separately.
• The package excludes hydraulic hoses. Choose compatible connections and line length for the specific installation. Separate reference: 220-12168 and 220-8307.
• Package quantity is one application-specific brake kit.

Fitment & Compatibility

Use the listed Chevrolet and GMC two-wheel-drive drum-spindle applications. Match the exact factory spindle, bearing dimensions and wheel pattern before assembly. Separate spindle brackets secure the radial calipers; the original spindle remains in service. Models covered: C10 Panel, C10 Pickup, Suburban, 1000 Series, 1000, C10 Suburban, C15/C1500 Suburban, C1500 Pickup, Blazer and Jimmy. Use the complete application table at the bottom for the precise year, submodel, brake option and note attached to each row.

If a separate rear parking-brake conversion is also planned, a universal parking cable may need cable or vehicle changes; it is not part of this front kit.
