Plain 12.19-inch rotors and red four-piston Dynalite calipers identify this AMC front hub package. The conversion replaces the documented Kelsey-Hayes brake arrangement and retains its specific spindle requirements. Bill Wood founded the company in 1977 in a business now based in Camarillo, California. Its calipers, master cylinders, brake rotors, brake lines, valves and fittings must be selected around the complete system.

Fitment & Compatibility

Confirm the 1.25-inch inner and 0.75-inch outer bearing journals using DS1025. Inspect bracket spacing and wheel support, and compare the exact model-year row before dismantling the existing non-Bendix brakes.

Documented model groups, subject to each year, submodel and spindle/axle qualification: American Motors Ambassador, AMX, Javelin, Rambler, Rebel, Hornet, Gremlin, Matador, Javelin AMX. Application distinctions include Disc Brake Spindle; AMX / AMX Disc Brake Spindle; Base / Disc Brake Spindle; Disc Brake Spindle, Kelsey Hayes Calipers; AMX / Disc Brake Spindle.

The installation reference distinguishes wheel-pad overhang from a supported stamped steel wheel. Overhang requires a 0.20-inch-thick steel spacer, 6.60 inches in diameter, part 300-11961 (sold separately). A stamped wheel without overhang should instead use the separate 0.09-inch-thick, 6.15-inch-diameter shield 300-10716.

Kelsey-Hayes disc-spindle configuration only, with 1.25-inch inner and 0.75-inch outer bearing journals. Bendix equipment is excluded. Use the DS1025 spacer arrangement to obtain its specified bracket stand-off.

DS1025 specifies 1.25 inches from the spindle backing-plate face to the back of the caliper mounting bracket; use the required spacer arrangement to establish that distance.

Flexible brake lines are not included. Original lines are not assumed to connect to the Wilwood calipers; select the application-specific or correctly sized universal hose and matching fittings.

Kit may fit some 15" wheels. Check wheel clearance diagram in kit installation instructions before purchase.
