Wilwood Front Black Dynalite Brake Kit for Matched AMC Kelsey-Hayes Disc Spindles, 12.19-Inch Plain Rotors

Black Dynalite calipers and plain 12.19-inch rotors convert the documented AMC Kelsey-Hayes disc-spindle arrangement. Replacement dual-pattern hubs require the specified bearing journals rather than interchange with Bendix equipment. Wilwood Engineering has designed and manufactured disc brake systems since Bill Wood founded it in 1977. Its Camarillo, California operation supplies calipers, master cylinders, brake rotors, valves, fittings and lines for specialized, street-performance and motorsport applications. Each component must be chosen to match the complete brake system.

Fitment & Compatibility

DS1025 identifies Kelsey-Hayes disc spindles with 1.25-inch inner and 0.75-inch outer bearing journals. Match those dimensions, the bracket stand-off and the exact AMC application; do not use a Bendix spindle.

Documented model groups, subject to each year, submodel and spindle/axle qualification: American Motors Ambassador, AMX, Javelin, Rambler, Rebel, Hornet, Gremlin, Matador, Javelin AMX. Application distinctions include Disc Brake Spindle; AMX / AMX Disc Brake Spindle; Base / Disc Brake Spindle; Disc Brake Spindle, Kelsey Hayes Calipers; AMX / Disc Brake Spindle.

Support the entire wheel mounting pad. An overhanging contact surface calls for 300-11961, the 6.60-inch x 0.20-inch steel spacer (sold separately). For a stamped steel wheel that stays within the hub face, the manufacturer recommends separate shield 300-10716: 6.15-inch diameter and 0.09-inch thickness.

Kelsey-Hayes disc-spindle configuration only, with 1.25-inch inner and 0.75-inch outer bearing journals. Bendix equipment is excluded. Use the DS1025 spacer arrangement to obtain its specified bracket stand-off.

DS1025 specifies 1.25 inches from the spindle backing-plate face to the back of the caliper mounting bracket; use the required spacer arrangement to establish that distance.

Flexible brake lines are not included. Original lines are not assumed to connect to the Wilwood calipers; select the application-specific or correctly sized universal hose and matching fittings.

Kit may fit some 15" wheels. Check wheel clearance diagram in kit installation instructions before purchase.

The parts-layout illustration is a red-caliper, drilled-and-slotted example; this configuration uses black calipers and plain-face rotors.
