Wilwood Plain 12.19-Inch Front Brake Conversion with Red Dynapro Calipers, Matched Ford/Mercury Spindles

The plain-rotor version of this larger front conversion uses red four-piston Dynapro calipers and supplied hubs. Spindle selection and wheel-pad seating remain independent checks alongside the rotor diameter. Bill Wood established Wilwood Engineering in 1977. Based in Camarillo, California, the company designs and builds disc brake systems for motorsport, street-performance and specialized uses, including calipers, rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines. Each part must match the requirements of the whole braking arrangement.

Fitment & Compatibility

Use the actual Ford/Mercury spindle and production detail to select the DS1012 hardware group. Confirm the required machine work for disc spindles and choose a hose arrangement suited to the chassis.

Documented model groups, subject to each year, submodel and spindle/axle qualification: Ford Falcon, Ranchero, Fairlane, Mustang, Torino, Maverick; Mercury Comet, Cyclone, Caliente, Cougar, Montego. Application distinctions include V-8 Spindle Only; Disc Brake V-8 Spindle Only; Drum Brake V-8 Spindle Only; Drum Brake Spindle; Disc Brake Spindle; Drum Brake Front Spindle; Drum Brake Front thru 8/24/69; Disc Brake GT350 & 500 only.

The 1970 Falcon and Maverick drum rows are restricted to production through8/24/1969; the 1970 Mustang disc row is GT 350/GT 500 only. Earlier Falcon, Ranchero, Comet and Cyclone rows retain their V8-only restrictions.

If the wheel contact surface overhangs the hub face, use steel spacer 300-11961, specified as 6.60 inches in diameter and 0.20 inch thick (sold separately). Stamped steel wheels without that overhang should use the separately sourced hub shield 300-10716, measuring 6.15 inches across and 0.09 inch thick.

Flexible brake lines are not included. Original lines are not assumed to connect to the Wilwood calipers; select the application-specific or correctly sized universal hose and matching fittings.

Kit may fit some 15" wheels. Check wheel clearance diagram in kit installation instructions before purchase.

Flexline kits: 1965-67 use 220-6471 (18"), 1968-up use 220-9195 (18").

A separately selected master cylinder may require modification of the existing pushrod assembly; it is not supplied in this brake kit.

An independently added universal parking-brake cable system may require cable or vehicle modifications. It is separate from this front service-brake kit.

Universal Flexline kits available: 220-7056 (14"), 220-7699 (16") or 220-8307 (18"). Choose correct length for your application.
