Wilwood Front Dynalite Disc & Hub Conversion for Packard Eight/Clipper/Patrician and Listed Chassis (1942–1956), 11.75-Inch Rotors, Black Calipers

This Wilwood front conversion supplies black four-piston Dynalite calipers, plain 11.75-inch rotors and replacement hubs for the listed Packard drum-spindle chassis. The application includes numerous model-number, Eight and later named-series entries whose individual years must be checked. The dedicated hub and bracket arrangement is selected by the original spindle rather than the Packard badge alone. Wilwood Engineering was founded by Bill Wood in 1977 and is based in Camarillo, California. The company designs and manufactures disc brake systems and components, including calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings, and brake lines for motorsport, street-performance, and specialized applications.

• Wheel-contact support requirement: if the wheel contact surface overhangs the hub face, use the specified 6.60-inch-diameter × 0.20-inch-thick steel spacer between hub and wheel. The spacer is supplied with this kit.
• The wheel-clearance drawing includes the supplied wheel spacer installed; account for its thickness and stud engagement in the completed wheel arrangement.
• For stamped steel wheels whose contact area does not overhang the hub, Wilwood recommends the separate 6.15-inch-diameter × 0.09-inch-thick hub shield to protect the hub face; this is distinct from the required overhang-support spacer.

Fitment & Compatibility

Packard model numbers and named Eight, Clipper, Patrician, Caribbean, Four Hundred and Executive applications cover different production entries; confirm the individual chassis before comparing the spindle with DS930. The supplied hub accepts the specified five-lug pattern, with the wheel mounting face 0.92 inches outward on each side. This track change is substantial enough to require a separate tire-width, backspacing and fender-clearance assessment. After that check, compare the actual wheel barrel and spokes with the brake outline. Inspect bearing seating, stud engagement and wheel-face contact, then select hydraulic hoses and verify the master-cylinder/pedal arrangement and rear brake balance for the completed conversion.
