Product details
This Wilwood front kit pairs red four-piston Dynalite calipers with plain 11.75-inch iron rotor rings and replacement hubs. The mounting is selected for the listed 1940–1952 Oldsmobile drum-spindle applications, including the exact Series and Eight model conditions. It is a disc conversion that retains the suitable original spindle while changing the hub and brake assembly. Wilwood Engineering was founded by Bill Wood in 1977 and is based in Camarillo, California. The company designs and manufactures disc brake systems and components, including calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings, and brake lines for motorsport, street-performance, and specialized applications.

- Wheel mounting change from OE: +.039 inches per side.
- Replacement hubs: Hub - Vented Rotor Offset; Aluminum; Bare.
- Wheel bolt circles: 5 x 5.00 inches.
- Included: paired calipers, pads, rotors, mounting brackets and assembly hardware, replacement hubs.
- Hydraulic lines and fittings selected separately. No master cylinder, booster or spindles are supplied.
- Conditional wheel screening size: 15 inches. Use the installation clearance diagram to verify the actual barrel and spoke profile.
- Wheel-contact support requirement: if the wheel contact surface overhangs the hub face, use the specified 6.60-inch-diameter × 0.20-inch-thick steel spacer between hub and wheel. The spacer is supplied with this kit.
- The wheel-clearance drawing includes the supplied wheel spacer installed; account for its thickness and stud engagement in the completed wheel arrangement.
- For stamped steel wheels whose contact area does not overhang the hub, Wilwood recommends the separate 6.15-inch-diameter × 0.09-inch-thick hub shield to protect the hub face; this is distinct from the required overhang-support spacer.
Fitment & Compatibility
Later Oldsmobile applications need their own model check: 98 is listed for 1950–1952, Deluxe 88 and Super 88 for 1951–1952, and Standard 88 for 1951. These entries do not extend automatically to every earlier Series model. Compare the specific drum spindle and bearing dimensions with DS936 before fitting the red-caliper conversion. The 0.039-inch outward change at the replacement hub and any required wheel-support spacer must be considered together when checking tire position. Verify the five-on-five-inch pattern, complete wheel-face seating and clearance around the caliper bridge. Hoses are a separate purchase. Review pushrod geometry and available master-cylinder travel as part of the disc conversion, then evaluate hydraulic balance against the existing rear braking package.
