Product details

This Wilwood front conversion uses black four-piston Dynalite calipers and plain 11.75-inch rotors for the stated 1940–1952 Oldsmobile drum spindles. Replacement hubs and bearing components carry the vented rotor rings. The application covers individual Series and Eight models rather than every Oldsmobile from the period, so confirm the exact series, year and installed spindle before selecting the package. Wilwood Engineering was founded by Bill Wood in 1977 and is based in Camarillo, California. The company designs and manufactures disc brake systems and components, including calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings, and brake lines for motorsport, street-performance, and specialized applications.

  • Hydraulic lines and fittings selected separately. No master cylinder, booster or spindles are supplied.
  • Conditional wheel screening size: 15 inches. Use the installation clearance diagram to verify the actual barrel and spoke profile.
  • Wheel-contact support requirement: if the wheel contact surface overhangs the hub face, use the specified 6.60-inch-diameter × 0.20-inch-thick steel spacer between hub and wheel. The spacer is supplied with this kit.
  • The wheel-clearance drawing includes the supplied wheel spacer installed; account for its thickness and stud engagement in the completed wheel arrangement.
  • For stamped steel wheels whose contact area does not overhang the hub, Wilwood recommends the separate 6.15-inch-diameter × 0.09-inch-thick hub shield to protect the hub face; this is distinct from the required overhang-support spacer.

Fitment & Compatibility

Start with the Oldsmobile series identification. Series 60 and Series 90 rows include 1940 and 1946 entries, Series 70 is listed for 1940, and the E-47/F-47/G-47/J-47/L-47 models have 1947 entries. The later 88/98 variants have their own production ranges. Confirm the individual row, then compare the drum spindle and bearings with DS936. New hubs retain a five-on-five-inch pattern with the specified 0.039-inch outward mounting change. The supplied wheel-support spacer must be used where the wheel contact area overhangs the hub; the clearance diagram includes the spacer installed. Select the proper hydraulic hoses separately, inspect the original master-cylinder pushrod arrangement for required adaptation and establish correct pedal travel and rear brake balance.

Match the individual model, year, submodel and brake configuration in the fitment table below.
