Product details

The black left D8-6 is a front replacement caliper for 1965–1982 Chevrolet Corvettes retaining the factory brake geometry. Six differential stainless pistons operate in a forged housing with the D8 pad shape. This component comes from Wilwood Engineering, established in 1977 by Bill Wood and based in Camarillo, California. Its disc brake design and manufacturing work includes calipers, brake rotors, master cylinders, valves, fittings and brake lines for motorsport, street-performance and specialized systems.

Technical Details

  • Manufacturer part number: 120-11712-BK. Component: D8-6 Caliper Front.
  • Supply: one brake caliper, not a complete axle brake kit. Match the mating rotor, pads, bracket and connection hardware to the installation.
  • Construction and surface: forged aluminum housing finished in Black powder coat.
  • Caliper weight: approximately 6.3 lb.
  • Nominal rotor width 1.25 inch; compatible outside diameter 11.75 inches. Specified rotor-width limits: 1.17–1.25 inch.
  • Hydraulic inlet thread: 1/8-27 NPT. Use a fitting with the correct thread and sealing seat.
  • Pad fit is type D8. Match the pad dimensions and compound to the rotor and intended braking conditions.
  • Piston dust boots: not fitted.
  • Bore configuration 1.88/1.38/1.25 inches across 6 pistons; piston material: stainless steel. Hydraulic effective area: 5.51 square inches.
  • Bracket interface: 7.00-inch lug centers with -inch holes. Specified mount height: 1.83 inches; orientation: left hand.

Fitment & Compatibility

Compare the front bracket and rotor with the original brake layout. A suitable flex line must connect to the 1/8-27 NPT inlet; early JK steel wheels and some reproductions can require additional clearance.
