Talk about vintage, these take the cake. These are some of the very first disc brake calipers mounted on production automobiles. Common on Jaguars and early Ferraris, there are many other vehicles out there that carry the Dunlop brand.
Fun fact: Dunlop actually beat ATE to the market on the more common “first Porsche disc brake caliper”… the 356C caliper. If you’ve been playing along at home, you know that the annular disc brake caliper was the first on a Porsche however, for mass production, the 356C was really the first contemporary disc brake caliper Porsche. Have a 356C? Have a look at the back of the calipers you will see “Licensed by Dunlop”. Dunlop lost the patent battle with Kelsey Hayes in 1972 and the rest, as they say, is history.
