Sloppy shifts often come from the rubber pads in the shift coupler. This late-style kit replaces them with urethane bushing pads, which removes the play and vague feel in the lever. It is sold as a complete set.
The late-style coupler is used on Type 1 transmissions from the 1965 model change forward. Earlier cars need the early-style coupler.
