A synchro ring for the third and fourth gear synchro hub in the Type 1 and Type 2 transmission. The ring matches shift speed between gear and shift sleeve, and a worn one causes grinding on 3rd and 4th shifts.
It is replaced as part of a transmission rebuild, usually in a set with the matching 1st and 2nd gear rings.
