The two Beetle rear axles have different spline lengths. This 5/8 inch spacer lets short-spline rotors or drums from a swing axle car sit correctly on a long-spline I.R.S. axle.
It works with rear brake rotors and drums, and EMPI's 5/205 wide-track rotors call for it on I.R.S. cars.
