Product details

EMPI 70-2860-7 is a zinc-plated steel wheel nut with an M14 x 1.5 thread, a Porsche-style ball seat, and an open end, and this set of 20 covers four wheels on a five-lug Porsche that runs steel wheels. EMPI cross-references the nut to N 020 112 1, the factory number for the M14 steel-wheel nut, and gives it a 19mm hex. The pierced end lets a longer stud pass through, which matters on cars with spacers or longer competition studs.

The ball (radius) seat is the shape Porsche used on its steel wheels. Most aftermarket wheels, EMPI's own included, use a 60-degree conical seat, and that wheel needs a different nut. PMB's 14mm bullet-nose studs pair well when the studs are being replaced too.

Fitment & Compatibility

N 020 112 1 is the Porsche part number for this steel-wheel lug nut. Check that number against the parts book for your car, or compare against a nut already on the car, before ordering a set.

Installation & Tuning Notes

Check that each nut actually tightens the wheel against the drum or rotor and does not bottom out on the stud, which would leave the wheel loose. Torque to the factory figure in a star pattern and recheck after the first drive.

Common Questions

How many nuts come in the set?
Twenty, enough for four wheels on a five-lug car.

Will these work on my aftermarket alloy wheels?
Only if the wheel has a ball seat and M14 x 1.5 studs. Wheels with a 60-degree conical seat need conical nuts.
