EMPI 00-4533-0 is a stainless steel gear shift extension that threads onto a stock shifter with a 12mm x 1.5 thread and raises the shift knob. As pictured, it is a bent stainless rod with a male 12mm x 1.5 stud at the bottom and a threaded top for the knob. EMPI supplies two nuts so you can tighten the extension and still hold it at the angle you want, which decides which way the bend leans the knob. It threads on where the knob was, so the lever itself stays as it is.
VW shift levers have used 7mm, 10mm, and 12mm knob threads, which is why EMPI makes its logo knobs triple threaded. This extension fits only the 12mm x 1.5 thread, so pull the knob and check the lever before ordering. EMPI's Trigger shifters take a 3/8-24 knob and will not accept it. Stainless steel resists rust and keeps its shine on a part that sits in plain view.

Installation & Tuning Notes
Run a nut onto the lever, thread the extension on, turn it to the angle you want, and lock the nut against it. Fit the knob, then run through every gear to check that it clears the dash and seats.
