EMPI 21-2330-0 is a set of four .030 inch rocker arm stand shims that fit between each rocker stand and the cylinder head boss on a Type 1-family air-cooled VW engine, raising the rocker shaft to correct rocker arm height and geometry. Each shim is a flat rectangle about 1.010 by .752 inches with a .375 inch stud hole. Four pieces cover one engine, since each head carries its rocker shaft on two stands. Shaft height sets the angle at which the adjuster meets the valve tip.
The most common reason to order stand shims is a switch to swivel-foot or ball-foot adjusters. Those adjusters are longer than stock, which is why EMPI includes stand shims with its 21-2031 and 4061 adjuster kits. Other thicknesses are .015 inch (21-2315) and .060 inch (21-2360), and the 21-2310 kit holds four of each size. EMPI's rocker shaft shims (4055 through 4058) are different parts that replace the shaft's wave washers and control side play.

Fitment & Compatibility
For stand-mounted rocker shafts on upright-fan Type 1-family engines, as used in the Beetle, Super Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 3, and Type 2 Bus through 1971. Compare against aftermarket rocker stands before ordering.
Installation & Tuning Notes
Fit one shim under each stand, then turn the engine to half valve lift and check that the adjuster sits near the center of the valve tip. If not, try another thickness, then recheck pushrod length and set lash.
