This 914Rubber oil temperature wiring harness grommet (part number 311.949.149.A) is a new reproduction designed for Porsche 914 models from 1970 to 1976, also fitting Porsche 912E and select VW Type 4 applications. It protects the oil temp sender wire where it passes through the taco plate (the sheet metal below the breather), preventing chafing, shorts, or grounding issues that can skew gauge readings or damage your wiring.

The oil temp sender wire runs from the sensor (on the case’s left side) through the taco plate to the gauge, exposed to engine heat and vibration. Without a proper grommet, the wire’s insulation can wear through, causing erratic oil temp readings—critical for a 914’s air-cooled flat-four, where overheating risks warped heads or worse.
