The EMPI 16-2310-0 is a forged 4340 chromoly micro stub axle, supplied with a hardened axle nut washer, that carries a 930 C.V. joint at the wheel end of a custom long-travel rear suspension. It is a one-piece forging that EMPI CNC machines all over, with a 1.490 inch diameter and 33 splines, which EMPI compares to a 2500 GM truck. The C.V. flange takes 3/8-24 bolts, the size used on the 930 joint. The splines are cold formed by rolling and run the full length of the shaft without being back cut. The inner flange has a deep radius, and both stub and washer are black oxided.
A micro stub is the part you need when the rear suspension is no longer a VW-style trailing arm. EMPI builds its Race-Trim Micro Stub Brake Kits around these stubs, running in a sealed, heavy-duty hub and bearing assembly with a matching 33-spline, 1.490 inch center section. Builders making their own hub carriers pair this stub with that hub assembly (16-2510-1) or buy the complete Race-Trim kit for 930 joints (16-2510-0). Choose the stub by joint size. This one fits the 930 joint with 3/8-24 bolts, and 16-2311-0 is the 934 version with 7/16-20 bolts.

Common Questions
Will this fit my stock I.R.S. trailing arms?
EMPI builds micro stubs for suspensions that differ from the VW trailing arm layout. For trailing arms with stock I.R.S. bearings, use the 16-2306-0 conversion stub axle.
Is the axle nut included?
The hardened washer is included. The M24 x 1.5 axle nut is EMPI 16-2421-0, sold separately.
What is the difference between the 930 and 934 micro stubs?
This one fits the 930 joint with 3/8-24 bolts. The 16-2311-0 fits the larger 934 joint with 7/16-20 bolts.
