The JP Dansk 1632200400 is a matte black five-speed shift knob that replaces Porsche part 901 424 014 00 on cars with the 901-type dogleg gearbox, including the 911, 912, and 914. In the dogleg pattern, first gear sits off to the left, opposite reverse, which puts second and third in a straight line through the middle of the gate. Old knobs dry out, crack, and chip, and since the knob is the part of the car you touch on every drive, a worn one is hard to ignore. The new knob threads onto the shift lever in place of the old one.

Match the knob to the gearbox in the car. The 911 moved to the 915 gearbox for 1972, so check a 1972–1973 911 before ordering, and any car converted to a later box will need a different knob. Four-speed cars use a different shift pattern, so this knob suits the five-speed box only.
