The EMPI 62-2400-0 is a low-back bucket seat molded from double-wall polyethylene, made for dune buggies, sand rails, and other custom off-road cars built on VW running gear. EMPI recontoured the seat and back areas of its poly seats for more comfort and better lumbar support, and upgraded the surface finish so the black shell looks right with or without a cover. Six 10mm x 1.5 threaded inserts are molded permanently into the base, so the seat bolts directly to a mount or slider. Slots through the shell pass seat belts and shoulder straps.
The low back stands about 25 1/2 inches tall sitting flat and has 6 inches of back incline. The high-back version (62-2300) stands 32 inches with 7 1/2 inches of incline. EMPI intends the shell to be run bare for low maintenance, or dressed up with a thickly padded vinyl cover in a square pattern. Covers for this seat come in black (62-2408), black/yellow (62-2409), black/red (62-2410), black/blue (62-2411), and black/grey (62-2412). They fasten with two snap fasteners and have two harness slots.

Fitment & Compatibility
This seat is made for custom applications. It does not bolt to stock VW seat runners, so a Beetle, Bus, or Ghia floor needs a seat mount or a fabricated bracket that lines up with the six inserts.
Installation & Tuning Notes
The shell has no steel frame. Measure the insert pattern before buying or building mounts, and pick 10mm x 1.5 bolts long enough for full thread engagement without bottoming in the inserts.
Common Questions
Is this sold as a pair?
No. The seat is sold individually, so order two for a driver and passenger setup.
Does it come with a cover?
The padded vinyl covers are their own EMPI part numbers, 62-2408 through 62-2412, in black and four two-tone colors.
