Product details
The JP Dansk JP-1749-0 is the left-side lower heater control box, often called the flapper box, for the four-cylinder Porsche 914, and it decides whether warm air from the left heat exchanger goes into the cabin or gets vented away. It mounts under the car, between the outlet of the left heat exchanger and the hose and elbow that carry heat forward to the interior ducts. A flap inside the box, worked by the heater control cable, either routes the hot air forward or vents it. A box that has rusted, bent, or seized can leave the heat stuck on, stuck off, or weak, even when the heat exchanger is sound.
The 914 uses separate left and right boxes, and the right-hand box is JP-1750-0. Both live under the car in the same road spray and salt, so they usually wear out together, and many owners replace the pair at once. Plan on new flexible heater hoses and clamps at the same time, because the old hoses are often cracked or crushed. Look over the heat exchangers too, since a leaking one cuts heater output as badly as a stuck flap.

Fitment & Compatibility
Fits the Porsche 914-4 from 1970 through 1975 with the 1.7, 1.8, or 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine. Owners of 1976 cars should check the box on the car before ordering. Fitment covers the four-cylinder cars only, so a 914/6 owner should compare against the parts on the car before ordering.
Installation & Tuning Notes
Work the flap by hand before fitting to confirm it swings freely and closes fully. Connect the heater cable so the flap closes completely with the cabin control off and opens fully with it on, then check both positions with the engine warm.
Common Questions
Is the left box the driver side on my 914?
Yes, on a left-hand-drive car the left box is on the driver side. The passenger-side box is JP-1750-0.
Is this sold as a pair?
It is sold individually. Order JP-1750-0 as well if both sides need replacing.
My heater is weak even when the engine is hot. Will a new control box fix it?
It will if the flap is stuck, bent, or leaking. Check the cable, hoses, and heat exchangers too.
